MSR Trekking Pole Display

CHALLENGE

MSR, a Cascade Designs brand, is a highly respected name in the outdoor industry. They launched a new line of Trekking Poles in 2011 and needed a display system to help carve out retail space and present the new Poles. We were asked to design a floor standing tower that would educate consumers about the features and benefits of the new poles and distribute the product.

We designed a 3 sided tower, supported by a central upright column mounted to a triangular MDF base. Wire grids accept moveable standard peg hooks from which the product suspends. 3 graphic panels above each face accept interchangeable graphic feature benefit cards. The MSR logo is prominently displayed on a 3 sided header at the top. A glorifier bracket holds a single pole which is backed by a printed graphic card that communicates more detail about the product.

MARKET RESULTS

Retailers embraced the compact tower and welcomed the helpful, silent salesperson graphic elements. The introduction of the new Poles has been highly successful, aided in large part by these well-thought out and presented displays.

MSR Tent Display

CHALLENGE

MSR, a Cascade Designs brand, is a highly respected name in the outdoor industry. They launched a new line of Tent Accessories in early 2012 and needed a display to help dispense them.

Rather than fight the inevitable “POP anarchy” that would see other brands’ product on the display, Cascade embraced it and made the display a Tent and Shelter Accessories Center. Although still strongly branded with both the MSR logo and signature red color, the interchangeable graphic header is not exclusively MSR-specific.

The 2 sided floor display has angled corners that can be activated for additional display space. A standard slat grid panel mounts to a MDF base. The angled corners are slotted to accept more peg hooks. We also designed Tent Peg Bins that could mount to the corners or on the main grid. Casters provide mobility.

MARKET RESULTS

MSR and its retailers were pleased with the flexibility, durability, and product density that the compact tower offered. MSR’s sales of tent accessories have been strong since the introduction of the new display.

MSR Hyperflow Microfilter Display

CHALLENGE

Cascade Designs is one of the leading purveyors of innovative equipment for the outdoor enthusiast. Their brands include Mountain Safety Research (MSR), Therm-a-Rest, Platypus, and SealLine. They recently introduced a revolutionary new water filtration pump. To enhance the new product's presence at retail, they were looking for a display solution to accomplish a number of goals:

  • Create an interactive platform for the new Hyperflow Microfilter water treatment pump.
  • Incorporate an actual pump on the display, secured to discourage theft.
  • Include replaceable lifestyle graphics to illustrate the environment and activity for which the pump is intended.
  • Allow for interchangeable product information in case product features change.
  • Provide strong branding.
  • Allow for countertop, slatwall, or gridwall use.
  • Reflect updated MSR brand positioning which excludes the use of wood.

MARKET RESULTS

An initial run of displays rolled out as part of a new product introduction. The design addressed several needs that the MSR marketing group was struggling with for their retail channels - namely compact size, effective visuals, security, affordability, and ease of use and set-up. This unique display helps MSR and their retailers feature and glorify the new Hyperflow Microfilter Pump. It also differentiates the Pump from - and elevates it above - competing products. To top things off, this was all achieved within the original target budget.

MSR MIOX Display

CHALLENGE

Mountain Safety Research (MSR®), a division of Cascade Designs, Inc., was looking for a comprehensive P-O-P solution for their line of water treatment filters. The display must accommodate all of the water treatment filters in the product line and provide a small footprint to appease retailers.

MARKET RESULTS

The first displays were introduced at the Outdoor Retailer Winter Market show, and were met with rave reviews from Cascade Designs and retailers alike. A large quantity of displays were manufactured during the first round of production. The roll-out included small "Mom & Pop" shops as well as large-scale retailers such as REI.

MSR Snowshoe Hook

CHALLENGE

Mountain Safety Research, a Cascade Designs brand, sought a new display hook to show and dispense the most recent additions to its industry-leading line of snowshoes. The awkward shape of the product, coupled with the need to differentiate multiple SKUs presented the chief challenges. The hooks needed to function on slat wall or slat grid. Each hook needed to accommodate up to three pairs of snow shoes, so stability and strength were necessary elements. Each hook needed to be individually branded with the MSR logo and had to accept interchangeable Feature Benefit cards for the specific model being displayed.

MARKET RESULTS

The hooks were introduced and were distributed to MSR dealers throughout the United States and Europe. They met a need that MSR had been trying unsuccessfully to meet for years. The new hooks have been a major success and have since been reordered.
